My Prayer for Day 11 of 40
Most Gracious Heavenly Father,
I come to You today with a heart of gratefulness. I come to You thankful for so many things that I can’t begin to list. I do this now after spending many months so focused on the things that have been going wrong or not quite lining up the way I thought they would. Those months really stole my joy and caused much frustration in my life. Lord, I am so sorry for my ungratefulness. Thank You for not removing Your favor on my life, but instead You had the patience to help me realize my wrongs through the help of the Holy Spirit. Without that help it would have taken me so much longer if ever to realize my faults. Lord, with that said, my country is in about the same boat. We, as a country, are highly blessed and highly favored, but we are in a season where our focus is all on us where things aren’t quite the way we as Americans were hoping they would be at this point in our history. We have turned from being a country that each and every one of us took it upon ourselves to know our neighbors, have concern for our neighbors’ lives, and be there to help a neighbor in need. We used to be people that took joy in giving and lending a hand, but now we only do this most of the time out of obligation or for personal gain in how we look to others. We are more concerned about how we look to other people than how we look to You, Father. Help us get out of this mindset of “what I need,” “what I want,” “what would make me better” to a mentality of “what does my neighbor need,” “what is for the better good” and “what would give You glory, Father God.” You are the reason we have what we have and are who we are. We are blessed and I know deep down every one of us, as Americans, know that. Help us see You in everything again. Help our leaders and future leaders to gain that vision You placed in our forefathers’ hearts once again. Help us turn the focus from ourselves back to You. That is the ONLY way this great country can be the greatest again. Lord, break our hearts for what breaks Yours!! In Jesus name I pray,
