My Prayer for Day 6 of 40

Most Gracious Heavenly Father,

Thank You for today. Thank You for allowing me to live in a country that people have the freedom to watch politicians debate on television from the comfort of their homes and decide who they want to represent their country to the world for the next 4 years. So many around the world don’t have such a freedom and I think we take that for granted. Lord, we take so much for granted and I want to always remind myself that no matter how bad things seem to get, I am still far better off than so many and so is the majority of people in this great country. Help me stay focused on a heart of gratitude! Lord, I hope we all realize these simple, yet important things when it comes to this year’s election. Who are we to murmur and complain about things that aren’t important to the bettering of our country as a whole. We are “One nation, under God.” We are Your children! We are, by far, significantly more blessed than any other country in the world, yet we sit around and moan about why things aren’t the way we want them to be. Lord, this topic is one of the main reasons You spoke to me about praying for the election for these 40 days instead of debating. You said that even though debates, like we saw tonight can be healthy and progressive, they can also be unhealthy and detrimental. And, You showed me that my debating was bringing no glory to You, so therefore, I have chosen to pray and be educated in choosing a candidate that would be best at glorifying You. With that said, my prayers for this election will only be focused on both candidates and listening out for who I believe You would have me to chose. But, at the same time, believing that no matter who is elected the results will ultimately bring You Glory. Whether our country is going to fall before it comes back to You or it is meant to get stronger and better because its focus changed back to You, I am believing that Your will for our country will still be fulfilled in the end, and that alone is enough hope to no longer worry myself over who becomes the next President. You hold the keys, Lord, and as an adopted son into Your Kingdom I will stand for You no matter the direction our country chooses to follow. Are we going to wake up and realize how far we have separated ourselves from You or are we going to have to fall completely apart before we realize that we can’t handle things properly without Your guidance. Only You know, God, and I’m choosing to trust You. I still believe in this great country and I know You do as well. The question remains: do we still believe that You are the reason this country is so blessed? Or are we to haughty and prideful to believe we need Divine guidance in the everyday affairs of our lives? We need You, Lord, and I pray that both candidates running for President realizes this as well and proclaims it. Lord, prick their hearts with this message and let Your Glory shine on America again!! Let us be grateful again to be under the care of Almighty God and never take that for granted again!  In Jesus name I pray,

Amen
